It seems like the Download Series was a year or two ahead of it's time, I think if they reintroduced this idea with the new releases as well as past releases, this would be a huge, HUGE success. Perhaps this is why they are hyping the new Dave's Picks as limited release, there will be a ton of demand for these shows in a digital format, the 12,000 must just be their estimate on people who are dedicated enough to still listening to CD's to subscribe. I don't understand why they wouldn't PREFER to have digital only releases at this point in time, one would think you could make more money selling a metaphysical product as opposed to a packaged physical product that takes time, labor and additiona resources to produce.

Anyone know if the CD versus downloading issue for music is comperable to the Netflix excuse for separating DVD rental versus streaming?

Non-dead but hysterical, satirical explanation for the original Netflix decision to separate services here: http://www.geekculture.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/1593.html
